Competencies in gender & diversity

Dealing with and raising awareness of gender and diversity issues is an important hallmark of quality at our university, which is characterised by diversity. Doctoral candidates and postdocs can use this programme to certify their gender and diversity competencies. Special interests, engagement and competencies become visible and promote quality and equal opportunities at LUH. The programme aims to motivate people to help actively reduce disadvantages and discrimination and to create an appreciative learning, teaching and working environment for everyone. After successfully completing the programme, LUH issues a certificate confirming the gender and diversity skills acquired.

A cooperation programme of the Graduate Academy, the International Office and the Equal Opportunities Office.

STRUCTURE AND REQUIREMENTS OF THE PROGRAMME

  • Target group

The target group is PhDs and Postdocs at Leibniz University. The prerequisite is that you are formally affiliated with the LUH. Doctoral candidates must have been accepted by the relevant faculty, whether as a researcher, doctoral student or scholarship holder.

  • Duration

The programme can be completed during the doctoral or postdoctoral phase.

For the winter semester 2023/2024, you can receive backdated credit for courses attended.

  • Requirements for certification of acquired competencies
    • Participation in at least 4 gender or diversity-related events organised by the Graduate Academy, the International Office or the Equal Opportunities Office
    • One of the four events can also be attended at other LUH university providers, but must be explicitly related to gender or diversity topics
    • If you have attended more than four courses, these will of course also be listed
    • Please note that the events are categorised differently depending on the depth of engagement with the topics. If you deal intensively with gender & diversity topics and actively participate, e.g. in workshops, courses or group coaching sessions, events are counted as full. Exchange and presentation formats, such as lunch talks or lectures, which generally only require a brief, low-threshold discussion, are counted as half events (see example). This is a guideline for categorisation. In individual cases, the cooperation partners decide on the assessments in consultation with the participants. If you have any questions, please write to us: kompetenzprogramm@chancenvielfalt.uni-hannover.de
    • Leisure activities and courses are not included, but can be listed separately.
  • Additional qualifications

Doctoral candidates and postdocs can have their voluntary university activities in the field of gender & diversity included, e.g. committee work and membership of working groups, mentoring or tandem tasks.

  • Registration

You do not need to register separately for the programme. Simply submit the registrationform with your certificates of participation and, if applicable, evidence of your university involvement at kompetenzprogramm@chancenvielfalt.uni-hannover.de. The certificates are usually issued at the end of the quarter.

If you would like to receive credit for an event, you can inform the organisers directly and ask for a certificate of attendance.

If you are not sure whether an event fulfils the criteria, please send us an email to: kompetenzprogramm@chancenvielfalt.uni-hannover.de

If your registrationform is full, please simply use another one.
